How Sac Treasure Hunt 4 Ended...
The drama and suspense of another Sac Treasure Hunt came to an end on Saturday morning, July 24th, at a small little school in Roseville. Yes, Roseville!
Why the daily clues threw most hunters into a scurry around parks and museums in Sacramento, it wasn't until the Saturday morning tweet of "152 acres...." convinced the hardcore hunters that they were in the wrong city!
STH4 ended at Maidu Elementary School in Roseville, which is located right next to Maidu Regional park.
Over 30 people, mostly new players, found the secret location within an hour's time, but only the first 12 were given the opportunity to try and see if a key fit the treasure chest lock and all the riches were theirs to be had!

So how did all the clues equal the secret location you ask? Well we stepped it up a notch this time, but here's how the thinking went!
Monday
1st Clue: Flower
Answer: Singular on purpose, as in "one" flower which meant "Rose" as in the city of Roseville and that the logo of the city has "one" Rose within it.(This first clue definitely had people thinking about parks and gardens in Sacramento area)
Tuesday:
2nd Clue: Museum
Answer: A vague clue for sure, but if you got Roseville figured out on Monday then it was just a matter of eliminating the museums within Roseville now.(This clue seemed to solidify the city of Sacramento as the secret location for most players with all its museums)
Wednesday
3rd Clue: Events
Answer: Another clue that is vague in nature, but many events are held at the secret location and it's neighboring park. (This clue could have been used for any location for the most part, and that is why it was, to keep people guessing!)
Thursday
4th Clue: Learn
Answer: Once again if you had narrowed it down to Roseville by now, Maidu Regional Park contains a Library as well and down the street is the Elementary School. (Once again a clue that left many still thinking a park or museum in Sacramento)
Friday
5th Clue: Well Lighted
Answer: The controversial clue...did I mean "lighted" or "lit". During the day or at night? Maidu Regional Park and the Elementary School are "well-lighted" to say the least and it says so on the website!
Saturday
Last clue: 152 acres + Miami Vice + Salad Dressing + where little ones learn
Answer: 152 acres is the size of Maidu Regional park (Roseville), Maidu Elementary school is located on Johnson (Don Johnson for Miami Vice) Ranch (Salad Dressing) Road and where little ones learn (Elementary School).
It was a mad rush to the end as several people were in Sacramento and then Maidu Park before they realized it was the at the Elementary School next door. Two words for those in cars: SLOW DOWN!

4th STH - Last minute clarifications
I have received several emails today and want to clarify some things for everyone:
1. The first 12 people who find the secret location of the treasure chest tomorrow morning after 10am; then fill out a form with the correct daily keywords in order, will have a shot at trying a key to open the lock to the chest. Four of the first 12 keys will open the chest. Those four people with the lucky keys will then face off again and one of the keys will open the chest. That will be the Grand Prize winner of everything in the chest, the other will be 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finishers.
2. Example: If you are the 8th person to get to the secret location, but don't remember the daily keywords, then as other people arrive and fill the daily keywords form out correctly, you could possibly not end up in the top 12. KNOW the daily keywords, write them down and bring that paper with you!
3. Once you get to the secret spot, you are NOT allowed to call, text, email, tweet or check-in via foursqaure; as you could intentionally or unintentionally let people know where the secret spot is located. On arrival and after filling out the daily keywords form you will have to put your cell phone or smartphone, etc..into the safe basket until the event is over.
4. Once arriving at the secret spot you can't help ANYONE with the daily keywords.
5. Couples or several members may play as a team and count as one (1) participant if they choose to do so.
6. The Parrot has the final ruling on all issues...play fair my friends!

4th Sac Treasure Hunt - How to play and rules
The Sac Treasure Hunt is always looking for new ways to have more winners and add more fun for participants and it's prize sponsors! We have done that with #STH4!
The 4th Sac Treasure Hunt will start Monday, July 19th and end on Saturday the 24th. The STH is a fun and interactive game that is open to everyone over the age of 18; and takes place in the Greater Sacramento area. Simply follow the daily clues on Twitter and or Facebook to figure out where the secret treasure location might be on Saturday morning. First timers playing the STH, be sure to read the special section below to answer some common FAQ's.
Here's how the STH works:
1. First, make sure to sign up for a twitter account (www.twitter.com) if you don't already have one; as all clues will originate from our twitter page. All of our tweets link to our Facebook page as well, so feel free to follow all the action there too.
2. Once signed up for a twitter page, be sure to follow us at www.twitter.com/sactreasurehunt to look for the daily clues that will be given each morning the week of the STH at around 9 AM PST. All STH's will start on a Monday and end on Saturday of the same week.
3. Daily clues and keyword(s) will be given each day, Monday thru Friday, and the last clue will be given on that Saturday at 10 AM as well. Clues could be numbers or letters, questions or answers, general Greater Sacramento trivia or maybe something on another website. You will never have to physically go any where or purchase something to get a clue; simply just follow our the daily tweets!
DAILY RETWEET CONTESTS - Each daily clue will also include a retweet contest as well. So be sure to retweet daily to enter to win some great prizes!
4. Put all the clues together to figure out where the treasure chest will be located after the last clue on Saturday morning. The actual treasure will not be put in place until Saturday, so if you think you figured the location out beforehand, just wait till Saturday to go and find it. Word to the wise, keep it to yourself!
5. You will also need to remember all the daily keywords from each specific day. We suggest writing them down on a piece of paper and bringing that with you when trying to find the secret treasure chest location. You will fill out a sheet upon arriving at the secret location and must have it correctly filled out to continue and receive an opportunity at opening the treasure chest if you are one of the first twelve participants who qualify.
6. The first twelve (12) people who show up at the secret treasure location on Saturday after 10 AM and CORRECTLY fill out the daily keywords sheet, will then choose 1 of 12 keys in order of how they finished the daily keywords sheet. The next 13 people who show up after the first 12 will receive special offers from our prize sponsors (such as coupons and or freebies). So 25 total winners of prizes.
7. Once all 12 keys have been accounted for, each key holder, in order, will then attempt to open the lock of the treasure chest. 4 of the 12 keys will open the lock(new twist here!). When the final 4 keys are known, they will then start over by selecting a key and trying to open the treasure chest again. When the treasure chest is finally opened by one of the key holders, the hunt is officially over at that time. (This part of the STH may be filmed to later publish online so everyone can see the drama of keys not working and others working, plus verify that real people win real prizes!)
8. The treasure chest will contain prizes and items from local businesses in the Greater Sacramento area. Over $5,000 in total prizes will be given away. Be sure to read the Prizes and Sponsors post for all that information.

First Time Players:
While the STH might seem a bit overwhelming, it is really simply and straight forward. Please read previous posts to get a sense of what will be happening during the week of the hunt.
There is something for everyone, you can follow all the clues and try to figure out the secret location or just do the daily retweets to win prizes. There is no sign up necessary, play and follow along as you like. FYI...on average during the past 3 hunts, only a dozen or so people seem to be able to figure out the secret locations, so don't be discouraged if you don't know! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
FOURSQUARE: I highly encourage everyone to follow the Sac Treasure Hunt via Foursquare as the check-ins during the week just might be helpful in figuring out the secret location...or not!
Rules and Conditions:
Must be 18 years and older to participant in the STH. 1st thru 12th place winners must show photo ID and or proof of age to collect prize as well as fill out a simple form with their name, address and twitter account name.
If you are one of the first 12 people to receive a key, you will be asked to put your cell phone or any other electronic device you have on you in a provided "safe basket" close by; as we don't want people to be tempted to call, email or text their family or friends about the secret location of the treasure chest(fair play for all!).
If you decline or refuse to put your item in the "safe basket" you will be disqualified and your spot will be given to the next person waiting, no exceptions. Once the winners are established and the hunt is over you can retrieve your item.
We have the right to remove you from your position in the STH at any time if we feel you are helping others in any way; such as giving them the keywords or telling others the location of the secret treasure.
By actively participating in the STH you are agreeing to the above rules and conditions. Rules may be changed or added without notification if unforeseen issues surface later.

First Time Players:
While the STH might seem a bit overwhelming, it is really simply and straight forward. Please read previous posts to get a sense of what will be happening during the week of the hunt.
There is something for everyone, you can follow all the clues and try to figure out the secret location or just do the daily retweets to win prizes. There is no sign up necessary, play and follow along as you like. FYI...on average during the past 3 hunts, only a dozen or so people seem to be able to figure out the secret locations, so don't be discouraged if you don't know! If you have any questions, please feel free to email me.
FOURSQUARE: I highly encourage everyone to follow the Sac Treasure Hunt via Foursquare as the check-ins during the week just might be helpful in figuring out the secret location...or not!
Rules and Conditions:
Must be 18 years and older to participant in the STH. 1st thru 12th place winners must show photo ID and or proof of age to collect prize as well as fill out a simple form with their name, address and twitter account name.
If you are one of the first 12 people to receive a key, you will be asked to put your cell phone or any other electronic device you have on you in a provided "safe basket" close by; as we don't want people to be tempted to call, email or text their family or friends about the secret location of the treasure chest(fair play for all!).
If you decline or refuse to put your item in the "safe basket" you will be disqualified and your spot will be given to the next person waiting, no exceptions. Once the winners are established and the hunt is over you can retrieve your item.
We have the right to remove you from your position in the STH at any time if we feel you are helping others in any way; such as giving them the keywords or telling others the location of the secret treasure.
By actively participating in the STH you are agreeing to the above rules and conditions. Rules may be changed or added without notification if unforeseen issues surface later.

#STH3...the ending of a social media experiment!
The 3rd Sac Treasure Hunt (#STH3) was a social media experiment galore; utilizing twitter, facebook and foursquare and a new special guest; @nataliedaily as the main clue person.
The hunt ended this past Thursday on April Fool's Day, in hopes of having the participants think that just maybe, maybe it was all a big joke; but the thrill of figuring out the clues and finding the secret location fooled no one in the end!
The secret location was Zelda's Gourmet Pizza restaurant on 21st Street in Sacramento and many were watiing for @nataliedaily and myself to come thru the door at 6 pm, as the first 12 people who found the secret location and had qualified with a picture would win a prize of at least $50 in value.
So how did all the clue's left via @nataliedaily's foursquare check-in's over four days lead to Zelda's Gourmet Pizza?
Before I explain the clues, this was the thought process of the very creative and fun Natalie Paulsen; aka @nataliedaily.
Natalie loves playing the classic Nintendo game "The Legend of Zelda" and therefore all the clues somehow pointed towards Zelda, Nintendo, pizza, etc.....with direct and indirect routes.
Check-in Clue #1: Luigi's Slice - It's in the name.(Thought it was funny that this pizza place also includes the name of one of the Super Mario Bros. It is basically a dual clue. It's a pizza place and it mentions Luigi, one of Nintendo's most popular characters, like Zelda.)
Check-in Clue #2: Target - CLUE is in the picture.(Thought this would be a good place to go with re: to the qualifying photo. Everyone should live close enough to a Target to be able to go in and take their pic with an employee. Also, a picture clue of a princess, as Zelda is a princess in the game.)
Check-in Clue #3: Jack's Urban Eats - Worth the wait.(Like Jack's, Zelda's is known for their long waits, both positively and negatively. Their loyal patrons don't mind the wait or know to call in ahead of time.)
Check-in Clue #4: Back Door Lounge - I heart a great hole-in-the-wall.(A favorite dive bar in Sacramento. It's a great hole-in-the-wall kind of place...which is how people talk about Zelda's Pizza as well.)
Check-in Clue #5: Nugget Market - Must. Have. Sausage Link.(Another common place that people can get a pic easily at. Was going to stop by and make a comment about the links...since link is the name of the main character in the Legend of Zelda. Oh, and I love sausage and it's in pizza too!)
Check-in Clue #6: Mikuni's Sushi - Getting a combo to-go.(This was a dual clue with Mikuni's being a Japanese style reataurant and the "Legend of Zelda" being inspired by Shigeru Miyamoto of Japan. Combo to-go sounds like a pizza order as well!)
Check-in Clue #7: Shady Lady Saloon - F. Scott Fitz. would love this.(A speakeasy style bar alluding to The Great Gatsby in some way since the book is set in the Roaring 20's, Jazz Age, during Prohibition, etc. The novel was written by F. Scott Fitzgerald who was married to Zelda Fitzgerald, which the game was named after, The Legend of Zelda.)
Several other random check-in's and clues were given after the 7th clue leading up to the 6pm meeting time on Thursday evening. Some took a chance and did leave Zelda's as Natalie checked-in via foursquare at other places heading towards Zelda's, which means they missed out being one of the top 12 people to get a shot at a prize, as they did not get back in time. It was very fun with a bit of trickery in the end!
Natalie and I arrived at 6pm to a warm reception from all the players who had figured out the secret locations and then we all sat down for a nice dinner, most of us meeting for the first time and chatted at Zelda's for a couple hours! Everyone enjoyed the foursquare addition to the mix this time around and the social media experiment was successful in the end!

FAQ's about qualifying picture for #STH#...
I have received many questions about the "qualifying" part of STH3 and wanted to get a quick post out today before the hunt ends tomorrow evening; making sure all followers have time to qualify and win prizes!
To qualify for a prize as one of the first twelve (12) people who find the secret location Thursday evening between 6 and 8 pm, you MUST beforehand take a picture with at least one employee at any of the locations @nataliedaily has "checked-in" at via foursquare and left an @sactreasurehunt or #STH3 clue in the comment section (All these show up in @nataliedaily tweets!). Only those locations qualify; and FYI: there are not any actual physical clues at these locations to find!
For those of you who live outside the city of Sacramento, you may go to a different store/location of the same company and take the picture there.
YOU then MUST twitpic and or post on facebook that picture by 2 pm on Thursday.(Special Prize: the person who can get the most employees in a picture with themselves gets a $100 gift card!)
IF you figure out the secret location for Thursday night you can't be one of the twelve (12) winners if you have not taken a qualifying picture! Make sense now?

STH3 - How to play and more...
Sac Treasure Hunt #3 (STH3) will start THIS Monday, March 29th and end in the evening on Thursday, April 1st! Not only will we be utilizing Twitter and Facebook for this SPECIAL hunt, we will also include Foursquare!
STH3 will be nothing like the past two hunts. We wanted to encourage more people to participate by mixing it up, making the hunt a little shorter and ending it during the week. And, what better day to end a hunt then on April Fool's Day!
Also new for STH3 is a special guest host who will help us with clues on a daily basis. Who is that you ask? It's none other than @nataliedaily (as she is known on twitter)!
Be sure to follow Natalie on both twitter and foursquare, as her daily "tweets" and "check-ins" will offer clues that will lead you to Thursday evening’s secret location. She will post the final clue before 4 p.m. on Thursday. Clues may not make sense individually. You’ll need to keep track of all of her STH3 clues throughout the week in order to figure out your final destination!
Please Note: Not all of Natalie’s “tweets” and “check-ins” will offer clues for STH#. All clues will specifically mention STH3 in the tweets or comment part!
So how does STH3 work?

Post the picture on twitpic or facebook; then tweet it out before 2 p.m. on Thursday. For those of you who live outside the city of Sacramento, you may go to a different store/location of the same company and take the picture there. Make sense? (Special Prize: the person who can get the most employees in a picture with themselves gets a $100 gift card!)
4. Natalie and I will be at the secret location on Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm. We will be awaiting the arrival of the first twelve (12) people. No daily keywords are needed for this hunt. As long as you’ve qualified (by taking a pic at one of Natalie’s stops along the way with an employee) the first twelve (12) people who arrive will win a prize.
5. As each person arrives, they will be given a numbered ticket, which is the order in which they will pick a gift bag after the last person (number 12) has arrived.
6. PRIZES: All of the STH3 prizes will be in gift bags. All of the gift bags will be the same size, so choose wisely! To keep this hunt even more different from past ones, we are NOT announcing what all of the prizes are in advance. All we are saying is that each gift bag will have a prize with at least a $50 value inside…and several bags will have prizes valued well over $50!

2nd Sac Treasure Hunt - Last clue and the ending...
The 2nd Sac Treasure Hunt ended on a beautiful Saturday morning at the secret location, the Sacramento River Cats.
At stake was over $2,000 in prizes for one lucky Sacramento treasure hunter!
Even before the last clue was tweeted out at 9am, three people had figured out the location. The grand prize winner, as well as two friends who had been waiting in the parking lot with binoculars looking for the treasure chest!
Once the last clue was sent out, it wasn't long before others found the secret location and over the course of the next 40 minutes all ten treasure hunters had arrived and qualified by writing down all the daily keywords.
So here is how all the clues led to the secret location. All clues were given out daily last week via the Sac Treasure Hunt twitter page:
Monday
1st Clue: Water is useful here
Answer: To water the outfield grass where the River Cats play or water to drink for the fans and ball players. (This first clue definitely had people thinking about one of the Quick Quack Car Wash locations as well the Sacramento Zoo or even Nugget Markets. Since Jiffy Lube was the secret location of the 1st STH, most ruled their locations out.)
Tuesday:
2nd Clue: You can find something "green" here
Answer: The outfield grass of the River Cats field. (Once again this led people to believe it was Quick Quack Car Wash, Sacramento Zoo or Nugget Markets.)
Wednesday
3rd Clue: You may wait in a line here
Answer: Line to purchase tickets to a River Cats game and or line to buy food and beverages at a concession stand, or even to use the bathrooms. (This clue could have been used for any location for the most part, and that is why it was, very vague in nature to keep people guessing!)
Thursday
4th Clue: Signs are found here
Answer: Signs to park, find your seat, etc.. at the River Cats. (Once again a clue that left many still thinking Quick Quack Car Wash, Sacramento Zoo or a Nugget Market location.)

Answer: River Cats, the roar of the fans when something good happens! (As I found out afterwards, all the people who were at a Quick Quack Car Wash location were now racing to the Sacramento Zoo and those already at the Zoo searched around Land Park for a treasure chest.)

Answer: The River Cats slogan

2nd Sac Treasure Hunt - How it works; a few new twists!
The Sac Treasure Hunt is always looking for ways to have more winners and add more fun; and having learned from the 1st STH, we have some new twists for the next one!
The 2nd Sac Treasure Hunt will start next Monday, March 15th and end on Saturday the 20th. The STH is a fun and interactive game that is open to everyone over the age of 18; and takes place in the Greater Sacramento area. Simply just follow the clues on twitter and find the secret treasure location at the end.
Here's how the STH will work:
1. First, make sure to sign up for a twitter account (www.twitter.com) if you don't already have one; as all clues will originate from our twitter page.
2. Once signed up for a twitter page, be sure to follow us at www.twitter.com/sactreasurehunt to look for the daily clues that will be given each morning the week of the STH at 9 AM PST. All STH's will start on a Monday and end on Saturday of the same week.
3. Daily clues and keyword(s) will be given each day, Monday thru Friday, and the last clue will be given on that Saturday at 9 AM as well. Clues could be numbers or letters, questions or answers, general Greater Sacramento trivia or maybe something on another website. You will never have to go any where or purchase anything to get a clue, just follow our tweets!
4. Put all the clues together to figure out where the treasure is located after the last clue on Saturday. The actual treasure will not be put in place until Saturday, so if you think you figured the location out beforehand, just wait till Saturday to go and find it.
5. You will also need to remember all the keywords from each specific day. We suggest writing them down on a piece of paper and bringing that with you when trying to find the secret treasure chest location. YOu will fill out a sheet upon arriving at the secret location and must have it correctly filled out to continue.
6. The first 10 people who show up at the secret treasure location on Saturday after 9 AM and CORRECTLY fill out the daily keywords sheet, will then choose 1 of 10 keys in order of how they finished the daily keywords sheet. The next 100 people who show up after the first 10 will receive special offers from our sponsors (such as coupons).
7. Once all 10 keys have been accounted for, each key holder, in order, will then attempt to open the lock of the treasure chest. 3 of the 10 keys will open the lock(new twist here!). When the final 3 keys are known, they will then start over by selecting a key and trying to open the treasure chest. When the treasure chest is finally opened by one of the key holders, the hunt is officially over at that time. (This part of the STH may be filmed to later publish online so everyone can see the drama of keys not working and others working!)
8. The treasure chest will contain prizes and items from local businesses in the Greater Sacramento area. Over $5,000 in total prizes will be given away. Be sure to read the Prizes and Sponsors post for all that information.
9. The 2nd thru 9th place participants will receive a Sac Treasure Hunt goodie bag that contains free gifts and prizes as well; so all 10 of the key holders will win something for finding the secret treasure chest location first.

If you decline or refuse to put your item in the "safe basket" you will be disqualified and your spot will be given to the next person waiting, no exceptions. Once the winners are established and the hunt is over you can retrieve your item.
We have the right to remove you from your position in the STH at any time if we feel you are helping others in any way; such as giving them the keywords or telling others the location of the secret treasure.
By actively participating in the STH you are agreeing to the above rules and conditions. Rules may be changed or added without notification if unforeseen issues surface later.

Last clue and 1st Sac Treasure Hunt ending...
This past Saturday on a cold and foggy morning in Sacramento, people awaited the last clue of the Sac Treasure Hunt to be tweeted at 9 AM.
At stake was over $1,500 in prizes for one lucky treasure hunter!
Once the last clue was sent, it wasn't long before someone found the secret location (9:07 AM was the first arrival) and over the course of the next ninety minutes or so 9 other people found the secret location!
So here is how all the clues led to the secret location. All clues were given out daily last week via the Sac Treasure Hunt twitter page:
Monday
1st Clue: Channel Deirdre Fitzpatrick is on
Answer: 3
Tuesday
2nd Clue: A Nobel Prize Winner
Answer: Guglielmo Marconi
(Several major streets in the Arden area are named after famous inventors, Guglielmo Marconi was one of those and won the Nobel Prize for Physics in 1909)
Wednesday
Jersey number of Zach Schrader (In college at Sac State added later)
Answer: 4
Thursday
4th Clue: Where people watch
Answer: Jiffy Lube
(This clue seemed to really throw a twist into people's thought process, as most people thought about movie theaters, parks, etc...however people do watch their vehicles getting worked on at Jiffy Lube.)
Friday
5th Clue: Synonym for street
Answer: Avenue
Saturday
Last clue: The square root of 2209
Answer: 47
Extra clue: Last name of Nobel Prize winner for Physics in 1909
Answer: Marconi
After the last clue was tweeted it was only a matter of time before all the treasure hunters put the answers together to get a street address of some kind which led them to the secret location of the Sac Treasure Hunt chest; Jiffy Lube at 3447 Marconi Avenue in Sacramento.
Once the treasure hunters arrived they had to write down the correct daily keywords to have a 1 in 10 chance of opening the treasure chest.

After it was all over we enjoyed an AMAZING Treasure Chest cake done by Kristy (@cakegrrl), it was so real, yet so delicious too!

Sac Treasure Hunt FAQ's
We have received some emails the past few days asking some interesting questions, so we thought it would be best to make some clarifications for all who will be participating in the 1st Sac Treasure Hunt on Monday.
Will the treasure chest be buried under ground? Will I need to bring a shovel or other digging items? No, the treasure chest will not be buried under ground, therefore no digging/excavating equipment is necessary.
If I win the grand prize do I need a large truck or car to haul the treasure chest away? Can somone help me load it? No need for a large vehicle, the treasure chest will fit inside any vehicle (and could possibly be used for magazine, toy or blanket storage later!). We would be happy to load it into your vehicle if you are the grand prize winner.
I work on Saturdays and can't participate for the treasure chest prizes, do I have to be present to win or get the daily retweet prizes if I win that? No, the daily retweet prizes will be mailed to you and you do not have to be present on Saturday to pick up any prize you might win from retweeting.
Can I bring my kids? Sure, you may bring anyone you like, however only people over 18 are eligible to win prizes.
Could you please give me a hint on what kind of place the treasure chest could be located, Greater Sacramento is a huge area? The treasure chest could be located at a park, a school, a place of business, etc...just follow the clues to figure it out!

Sac Treasure Hunt - How It All Works
The 1st Sac Treasure Hunt will start next Monday, January 11th and end on Saturday the 16th. The STH is a fun and interactive game that is open to everyone over the age of 18; and takes place in the Greater Sacramento area. Simply just follow the clues on twitter and find the secret treasure location at the end.
Here's how the STH will work:
1. First, make sure to sign up for a twitter account (www.twitter.com) if you don't already have one; as all clues will originate from our twitter page.
2. Once signed up for a twitter page, be sure to follow us at www.twitter.com/sactreasurehunt to look for the daily clues that will be given each morning the week of the STH at 9 AM PST. All STH's will start on a Monday and end on Saturday of the same week.
3. Daily clues and keyword(s) will be given each day, Monday thru Friday, and the last clue will be given on that Saturday at 9 AM as well. Clues could be numbers or letters, questions or answers, general Sacramento trivia or maybe something on another website. You will never have to go any where or purchase anything to get a clue, just follow our twitter account for them.
4. Put all the clues together to figure out where the treasure is located after the last clue on Saturday. The actual treasure will not be put in place until Saturday, so if you think you figured the location out beforehand, just wait till Saturday to go and find it.
5. You will also need to remember all the keywords from each specific day (hint: write them down each day and keep them in order).
6. The first 10 people who show up at the secret treasure location on Saturday between 9 AM and 11 AM, and have the correct keywords, will then choose 1 of 10 keys in order of how they arrived; for one of the keys will open the lock of the treasure chest! The next 100 people who show up will receive special offers from our sponsors (such as gift cards or coupons).
7. Once all 10 keys have been accounted for, each key holder in order will then attempt to open the treasure chest. When the treasure chest is finally opened by one of the key holders, the hunt is officially over at that time. (This part of the STH may be filmed to later publish online so everyone can see the drama of 9 keys not working and only 1 working!)
8. The treasure chest will contain prizes and items from local businesses in the Greater Sacramento area. Over $2,500 in total prizes will be given away for the 1st STH. Be sure to read the Prizes and Sponsors post for all the information.
9. The 2nd thru 9th place participants will receive a Sac Treasure Hunt goodie bag that contains free gifts and prizes as well; so all 10 of the key holders will win something for finding the secret treasure chest location first.
10. As noted previously above, the 11th thru 100th people who find the secret treasure chest location will receive special coupons and offers from our sponsors...so be one of the first 100 people to receive something special on Saturday!
Rules and Conditions:

By actively participating in the STH you are agreeing to the above rules and conditions. Rules may be changed or added without notification if unforeseen issues surface later.
